Molesworth was an inspiration and a lifeline to me at my own St Custards...Back in the Jug Agane...

Ah Charles - it (however you characterise "it") is not a fault nor is it ineradicable, because it can't and shouldn't be eradicated, I'd say. As so often, you've given me the seed of a post. But for now - who would not rather have a full heart and what you call an over-the-top response, as opposed to an empty heart and no response?

But I'm very pleased if my ramblings have provoked thought. And about your previous posts on this. I have always noted as a personal fault the fact that I have little of what I've always called presence of mind -- which you call mindfulness. When my heart is full I get carried away, go over the top. It's a fault which I've supposed ineradicable. In times of stress and misery, even great anger, my brain goes icy.

But I have always reckoned that public performance is something I'll never do well because of this ineradicable fault. I was with a radio presenter the other day. She had mindfulness to the n'th degree. I have never seen such self possession.

I was struck by the image of you composing yourself in front of the coffin as the seats fill.

Maybe it's not an ineradicable fault?

Thank you for giving me heaps to think about. At the end of a long life I'd rather given up on myself. Who knows...?

Molesworth, i'faith! I Must dig out my copy. Still and all, better to realise it in, shall we say, the prime of life, than not at all, at all, at all....

It just must be a healing thing, over all, I think. i.e. it won't get a splinter out of your finger, but it will help your immune system fight any consequent infection. And may help the splimnter hurt less.

I'm pleased to read that our areas of interest overlap increasingly, because it helps me to understand that no, it is not just me...

Thanks for comment.
Go well, brother Arkers.gloriamundihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12476712899700515223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1456857068476095225.post-66846670003920497202010-08-31T19:18:23.587+01:002010-08-31T19:18:23.587+01:00Well this is very interesting.

It has been a huge influence on us, and I would urge anyybody who works in anyway with the dying, the dead or the bereaved to read it.
She describes walking into the room of a newly admitted patient in deep distress, struggling with the nurse to climb out of her bed while her hysterical daughter screamed by the side. Marie describes the nurse 'smiling warmly like a flame of reassurance in this vision of hell.'
That centered calmness is a good position for any nurse/undertaker/minister to be coming from.
Of course, having been a seven year old boy in 1977, I am unable to accept the word 'flow'. It is, as any fuel kno, The Force, and it is strong in this one...Rupert Callenderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08889311204045362950noreply@blogger.com
